deissaster is going to be playing soon.  if you can make it, that would be swell.  hopefully, we will be able to record it for posterity, if you can't make it.

we're playing a opening set for our friends, KurtJeremyFazJeremy, otherwise known as recallseven

you can remember back when JeremyJeremy or Dietz+Dickerson ruled the rhythm section of anatone

we'd love to have you join us on june 8, 2007 in portland, or -- at the

the low down

baritone guitar.JPG
i just purchased a baritone guitar.  i hadn't really set out to do that; i'd actually
been looking for a dreadnaught so i could provide more depth and rhythm
to some of our songs, particularly while playing live.  my friend jeremy dietz
and i scoured portland, and found that dreadnaughts fall into two categories:
1) only slightly more adept at rendering the lower registers
than every other guitar i've got, or
2) about as expensive as a black-market nuke.
i was discouraged.
we went to one more store, portland music's acoustic outlet on
broadway & 25th, figuring if we couldn't find anything there, we'd spend

sorry for that. i've been reading a book where one of the main characters
composes haiku to elucidate his thoughts. i thought, wow, that might be
some fun, but it turns out it's harder than i thought to be silly when writing
haiku, as they've always seemed like they deserved more depth.
that's socialization for you.

this last show was at luscious by nature, about exactly a month ago.
for anyone who hasn't been there, go. they have excellent beer, coffee,
and food, and their mixed drinks look incredible. it was certainly a fun night;
one of the coolest feelings is to look out and see how the music you write
affects other people. of course, i say that a ...

Deissaster's Walla Walla Wine Sponsorships
the report By timothy on 12/29/2006
Memo:  Calling all Walla Walla Wineries

Deissaster is now accepting Walla Walla Wine Sponsorships.  Here's how it works, you donate a minimum of four (4) bottles of fine wine from your winery.  Joshua and I drink some of it at our next show (venue willing, of course).  The bottles will be sitting on a flat surface, such as a table.  We will not guarantee that we will mention your wine but it will be sitting there for the audience to see.  We do not guarantee that the label will always be facing the audience.  We do not guarantee that this will have any affect on your sales, positive or negative, and we take no responsibility if your business goes down in a flaming fireball due to lack of acumen.

You're probably thinking, people already know that my wine exists.  I hate to be the one to tell you but you're probably wrong.  If you're right, then Joshua and I will make them je ...

One show down, hopefully several more to go
Notes By joshua on 12/16/2006 1:17 PM
deissaster has just finished it's first show in walla walla. (pause here for wild, sustained applause)

ok, ok, calm down. no need to get worked up; if you missed the show at sweet basil pizzaria on december 9,
you can still catch us at luscious by nature on january 15. this time, though, you'll have to pay $5 for the privilege.
it's for a good cause though: half goes to the women's shelter. i don't really know where the other half goes.
i suppose i should ask about that at some point or another, but the truth be told, i'm excited enough
to be playing that the $50 (20 x 2.50, give or take a few) or so represented by the missing half of the proceeds
really doesn't matter a whole lot.

what matters is that, after several years of hanging out in the basement, taking breaks to play songs between
extensive crack-out episodes on tim's xbox 360, we have finally come out (there has to be a better way to put t ...

sweetbasil pizza toss.jpg For those of you in Walla Walla and the surrounding areas who are interested in hearing live original music, Deissaster has just booked its first show.  We'll be playing at the Sweet Basil Pizzaria on December 9 from about 7:00 PM to about 9:00 PM.  Their website, if you wish to check them out, is at http://www.sweetbasilpizzeria.com/  As far as Walla Walla goes, you really can't find better pizza and, for that one night, it will be tricky to find better music as well.  Plus they have beer. And wine. Good times to be had by all, to be sure.

As far as I know, there won't be a cover charge, so you are free to spend all your money on piz ...

the story so far...
Notes By joshua on 10/31/2006 12:58 PM

ok, so here's the story behind deissaster.com.  awhile ago (say 13 years, plus or minus), two guys met in college, united by a love of music and beer.  they began to write songs together, and formed a band with two other guys, who also loved music and beer.

all was well.

this band (fourier's ink, in case you were curious) recorded some songs and played at a few places in walla walla, washington and la grande, oregon.  the music was mostly acoustic folksy sorts of stuff.  pretty music, fun to play, but not exactly "rock the bar until the windows break" songs.  we also noticed there was something missing, something other musicians seemed to attain that we weren't getting, something every person who ever plugs a guitar into a marshall in front of people dreams of: free beer.
